Intro to Nosework
Prerequisites: To enroll in this class a dog needs to be ready to work, pay attention, use good dog manners and remain quiet in a crate and in a classroom setting. We prefer that the dog be 9 months old or older.
Join us for a Intro to Nosework class to learn the best smelling dog sport ever. Unlike many dog sports this sport /class is suitable for all dogs, fearful, all dogs of all ages, all breeds pure and mixed, all temperaments and all levels of physical fitness Each and every dog will be crated separately and work alone. And for handlers this sport is a low impact, low physical skill and intensity sport.
Training will be positive search and detection-style fun and games training geared towards developing your dog’s natural scenting abilities. Training begins with simple easy searches in cardboard boxes and progresses to more difficult searches. If competition and titles are important to you the skills developed in this class can lead to entering, competing and earning titles sanctioned by the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) and American Kennel Club (AKC). And it goes without saying this sport will build confidence, provide an avenue to burn off physical and mental energy, strengthen the dog handler bond and be FUN for dogs and handlers.
